I am by no means a Guitar Hero champ, I am not great and I've only played the first and third one and the Metallica one. So I don't have the experience to compare this game to the entire series. I am a huge Metallica fan though and I love this game. The song list is great, there is a good mix of songs from Metallica's huge discography. There are also a number of great songs from other bands picked from Metallica, from Queen to Thin Lizzy. The gameplay is classic Guitar Hero, but I think this game is harder than the other two games I've played. There are a lot of hold cords and a lot of fast rhythm sections. But it really helps capture the feel of playing on stage as a Rock Star better than any game yet. If you aren't a die hard Metallica fan you will still like this, but it might just be worth a rental. If you like Guitar Hero and love Metallica it is pretty much a must buy. Rock On.
